Code X17090204: ASTON & MANDER Wood Cased Compass, c. 1910
This is a compass made by ASTON & MANDER of London around 1910. It is housed in a wood case that was meant to be attached to a larger instrument. The wood case has a scale graduated every 10 degrees. It has also a rotting bezel that would rotate the entire compass (with dial) to memorize a specific position. The compass has jewelled bar needle in excellent condition and pointing to magnetic North without any problem. The dial is signed ASTON & MANDER LONDON. It is covered with a flat glass crystal in excellent condition. The dial of the compass measures 25mm in diameter. The wood case measures 56 mm x 46 mm. |
