Code T18: Antique Hunter Compass with Singers Patent Dial, c. 1900
This is a nice hunter cased English compass made in the early 1900s. It has a brass case in nice condition for its age. The lid springs open when the button is pushed. It has a strong hinge. Inside the lid inscribed with makers initials: B & S and serial number, which appears to be 73. The Singer's patent dial is in excellent condition and points North without any problem. It is marked SINGER'S PATENT. It is covered with a glass crystal in excellent condition without any scratches or chips. When the lid is closed the transit lock blocks the dial to avoid damaging the pivot when the compass is not used. It is automatically released when the lid is opened and the dial will move to find North. It measures around 47mm in diameter. |
