Code T03: German Compass U.S. Engineering Department, 1913
This is a rare compass manufactured in Germany and was exported to the USA to be used by the Engineering Department. In the USA there were also three companies manufacturing compasses for the Eng. Department: Keuffel & Esser, Taylor and Iszard Warren. This compass has a nickel plated case still in nice condition. On the front lid it is engraved ENG. DEPT. U.S.A. 1913 with serial number 8188. Inside front lid marked MADE IN GERMANY. The compass has a quality bar needle with a jeweled brass cap. Dial and glass crystal are in flawless condition. Transit lock is functional when lid closed. In full working order and finding North easily. Very nice and rare compass with 4.6cm in diameter. |
