The mother-of-pearl dial is a real beauty and glow in low light condition. It is a variation of the Singer's Patent dial and is signed DAME STODDARD & KENDALL, BOSTON. The dial is automatically locked when the lid is closed, which prevents damage to the jewelled bearing when the compass is not use. It is automatically released when the lid is open. The dial is covered with a thick glass crystal in excellent condition without chips or scratches. The compass is fully working and finds North without any problem. It measures around 52 mm in diameter excluding the pendant and bow.
