Code BA24061722: Second World War Air Forces Longines-Wittnauer Vintage Compass in Original Box, c. 1941
| This is a beautiful WWII Longines-Wittnauer antique compass made by the LONGINES-WITTNAUER WATCH CO for the Air Forces. It is in full working order and finds North without any problem. The case is nickel in excellent condition without dings or dents. It is marked U.S. on the front lid. When the button is pushed the lid springs open as it should. The transit lock is activated when the lid is closed to protect the pivot and jewelled bearing when the compass is not in use. The face is stamped Wittnauer and still in excellent condition without any damage. The glass crystal is in excellent condition without any scratches or chips. The compass comes with its original cloth bag and box both in nice condition. The box is marked: COMPASS ASSEMBLY POCKET TYPE AIR FORCES ORDER NO. W535-AC-27707 Mfr's Assy Dwg 1941 LONGINES-WITTNAUER WATCH CO., INC.. The compass measures approximately 4.7cm in diameter. |
