Code BA23112901: Victorian Compass by Short & Mason, London, c. 1890
This is a victorian compass made by the famous Short & Mason of London c. 1890. It comes in a gilt brass case in excellent condition without dings or dents. The dial is a variant of the Singer's Patent. It is in excellent condition and rotates smoothly to find North without any problem. It can be locked when the compass is not in use by rotating the bezel clockwise. The dial can be released again by rotating the bezel anti-clockwise. The dial is covered with a glass crystal in excellent condition without chips or scratches. The case is engraved on the back: SHORT & MASON, LONDON, MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN. The compass measures about 52mm in diameter and has a thickness of approximately 12mm. It comes in a nice leather pouch still in excellent condition as well. |
