Code BA23053115: First World War Gold Filled CEEBYNITE Compass, 1915
This is a rare version of the Taylor Ceebynite pocket compass, which comes in a gold-filled pocket watch case. Compasses of this version were manufactured in very limited numbers. The case is in excellent condition without dings, dents or wear to the gold layer. It has a strong hinge and the lid springs open when the crown is pushed. The compass has a jewelled bearing fixed to the floating dial. Marked CEEBYNITE, SHORT & MASON, TAYLOR-ROCHESTER, NY, PATENTS PENDING. The dial is excellent condition without any damage. It is covered with a glass crystal free of chips or scratches. Very often such compasses have dirt under the glass crystal. This one is very clean. It is in perfect working order and finds North easily. It measures about 45.5mm in diameter. The compass has a personal engraving on the back. It comes with a nice attachment gold filled attachment chain. This is a rare and hard to find compass, especially in this condition. It would make a great gift. |
