The Boreal Arrow

Code BA22081602: Victorian Brass Gimballed Compass, c. 1880

This is a very unusual compass from the victorian era. Its a miniature gimballed compass made around 1880. This compass is very unique since it has two gimbals and measures only 33mm in diameter. Usually, compasses of this size are only swivelling compasses. It is housed in a brass lidded case in excellent condition without any damage. The dial is very nice and is covered with a thick convex glass crystal. Both are in excellent condition. The quality bar needle has a jewelled brass cap. It is very precise and finds North without any problem. Very unusual compass that would make a great gift.
