Code BA22040901: J. H. Steward Hunter Compass c. 1920
| This is a rare hunter compass made by the famous J.H. Steward based in London. The compass dates from c. 1920. The case is made of oxidized brass still in excellent condition without dings or dents. It is left in its orginial condition with a nice patina. The lid springs open when the button is pushed. Inside the lid it has a small hallmark. The same can be found inside the back lid. The metallic dial has a special design and is in excellent condition. It is marked J. H. STEWARD, LONDON. The bevelled glass crystal covers the dial and is in excellent condition without chips or scratches. The compass points North very precisely. The transit lock is also in working order. Very nice and rare example by a quality maker. Measures around 47mm in diameter. |
