Code BA21052301: Victorian Antique Compass With Porcelain Dial, c. 1860
This is a nice and rare victorian antique pocket compass made in England around 1850-1860. The compass case is made of silver coloured metal and still in excellent condition without any damage. It has a quality bar needle with a jewelled brass cap. The needle moves freely and points North without any problem. It has a small push button on the neck, when pushed, the transit lock is activated to freeze the needle and prevent damage to its bearing. When pulled the needle is released to find North. The compass has a nice white porcelain dial in excellent condition without any chips or scratches. It is covered with an undamaged bevelled glass crystal. It measures around 34mm in diameter. Nice and rare example that has great value for the serious collector. |
