Code BA16102801: Rare Victorian Leather-Cased Singers Patent Compass, c. 1865
This a nice a rare compass made around 1865. It has a very rare version of the Singers Patent dial numbered 4358. The dial is mother-of-pearl and in excellent condition. It has a jewelled brass cap and find North without any problem. The compass has an external brown leather case still in nice condition for its age. It is free of damage and has a strong hinge and a hook to secure the lid closed. It opens and closes as it should. It is covered with dark blue velvet inside. The glass crystal covering the dial is in excellent condition without chips or scratches. The inner compass measures 29mm in diameter and the external case measures 38mm in diameter. Very nice and rare compass that would make a great gift. |
