Code BA15082401: Nautical Wood Cased Compass, c. 1860
| This is a nice English wood cased compass dating from around 1860. The case is very well made, with brass hinges and a hook to keep it closed. It is in excellent condition without any damage.The dial is very nicely detailed and has typical nautical design. It has a flat glass crystal that covers the dial. The needle has a crown shaped brass cap. It is blue with golden S and N engraved to each side. It has a transit lock when the lid is closed. Very fine example. The compass is in working order and finds North easily. It measures 67 mm x 67 mm x 20 mm. |
