The Boreal Arrow

Code BA140820646: Negretti & Zambra Compass, c. 1905

This is a rare compass made by Negretti & Zambra of London around 1905. The case is black painted metal and has a magnifier integrated to the lid. The magnifier is not scratched as it is usually the case on this type of compasses. This is probably due to the fact that the compass comes in its original leather case and is well protected. Anyway, the compass in excellent condition without dents or scratches and shows very little signs of use. It is in excellent working order and points to North precisely. It has a small lever on the side of the case to activate the transit when the compass is carried and is not in use. The compass measures about 48 mm in diameter. Both compass and case are signed with maker name: Negretti & Zambra, London. The compass is also marked with Patent Number: 12777 MADE IN ENGLAND. The leather case is also marked with letters W. C. D.
