Code BA140701577: Hunter Compass with MOP dial by BARRETT London, c. 1880
| This is a nice hunter compass made around 1880 by BARRETT of LONDON. It comas in a brass case free of dings or dents and with a strong hinge. It is marked inside the lid with serial number 68. The compass has a Singer's Patent floating floating dial. It is in excellent condition and made of Mother-of-Pearl. It is clearly signed BARRETT, 144 FLEET ST. LONDON. The dial has a jewelled brass cap at the centre and points North without any problem. The dial is covered with a glass crystal free of scratches or chips. The transit lock comes into play when the lid is closed. It measures about 47mm in diameter. |
