This is a WW1 Verners pattern MKVIII military marching compass dated 1917. Made by French & Son London with serial no 86368, and military arrow /|\. Has the traditional mother of pearl dial, for low light reading with the orange direction arrow intact. The brass lid has a strong hinge. Has brass knob on the side for transit locking of dial. The compass has also a magnifying prism for precise angles calculation (for target engagement). It is in excellent working condition and finds North without any problem. It measures about 54mm in diameter. |
