Code BA131015498: French Sighting Clinometer Compass by HENNEQUIN c. 1900
This is a nice and large French sighting compass dating from early 1900 and made by HENNEQUIN (engraved on the case). There is book written in French about this compass. It is titled: Instruction sur la boussole-rapporteur Hennequin. The compass is housed in a brass case and has a bevelled glass crystal on each side (for map reading and measuring). The crystals are still in very good condition with a couple of small scratches. There are two sighting vanes with openings. The compass has also a hand for the clinometer. The needle is flat and has a jewelled brass cap. It points North precisely and can be locked by sliding a small lever on the side of the case. It is signed and numbered 230. The diameter of the compass is 54mm. |
