This is a rare and small English compass made by LOUIS CASELLA around 1850. L. Casella was active in London as instrument maker between 1848 and 1860. It comes in a nice brass case that is still in excellent condition. The rotating dial is in excellent condition. It has typical nautical design and is clearly signed L. CASELLA, LONDON. The glass crystal is in excellent condition without chips or scratches. It is in excellent working order and finds North easily. The inner compass measures 28mm in diameter and the external leather case 33mm. Nice and rare compass. |
