| This is a nice and large English Nautical compass made c.1840 by the famous instrument maker Spencer & Co. of London. It comes in a nice lidded brass case that is still in excellent condition. No dings or dents. It is left in its original condition with a nice patina. The rotating dial is in excellent condition. It has typical nautical design and is clearly singed: Made by SPENCER & CO., 111, MINORIES, LONDON. The glass crystal is in excellent condition without chips or scratches. It is in excellent working order and finds North easily. It measures around 82mm in diameter and just over 30mm height. Ideal to be displayed on a desk, this extremely rare compass would make a great gift. |
