The Boreal Arrow

Code BA13012758: Antique J. H. STEWARD STRAND LONDON Brass Compass, c. 1880

This is a nice and rare late 19th century British compass from J. H. STEWARD of London. It was made approximately in 1880. The compass comes in a solid brass case in excellent condition without dings or dents. It is larger than similar examples by other makers. The dial has a nice typically Nautical design. The compass is clearly signed by maker on the dial: J. H. STEWARD, 456 WEST STRAND LONDON. The compass is fully working and finds North without any problem. The needle is locked when lid is closed. The glass crystal is in excellent condition without chips or scratches. The compass measures 70 mm in diameter. Very nice and rare compass and would be very beautiful when displayed on a desk.
