This is WW1 Verners pattern MKVIII military marching compass with leather case, dated 1917. Made by B-L London with serial no 67192, and military arrow /|\. Has the traditional mother of pearl dial, for low light reading with the orange direction arrow intact. The brass lid has a nice strong hinge. Has brass knob on the side for transit locking of dial. The compass has also a magnifying prism for precise angles calculation (for target engagement). The leather case has the inscription FRENCH & SON LTD, LONDON, 1917. It has also personal inscription (with owner ID). The compass and leather case are in great condition. This is a fine example by a quality maker. Size 5.4cm diameter. |
