This is a nice hunter compass probably made by Short & Mason in the early 1900 although it does carry any markings. The compass has a sturdy brass case, in excellent condition with normal signs of use. It is a snap cover case (no spring). The case is much thicker compared to a spring loaded case. The compass has a nice Mother of Pearl Singers Patent rotating dial in excellent condition. It has a jeweled brass cap. The dial rotates freely and finds North easily. The beveled glass crystal is in excellent condition. No chips or scratches. It has the four cardinal points marked inside in red. Has also a transit lock activated when the lid is closed. This is a nice and quality compass measuring approximately 47mm in diameter not including the ring.
