Code BA12122054: Antique Canadian Hunter Compass by Charles Potter of Toronto, c. 1899
This is a rare hunter compass made by Canadian Optician and Instrument maker Charles Potter around 1899. The compass has a sturdy brass case, in excellent condition with normal signs of use and aging. It is a "snap cover case" (no spring). The case is much thicker compared to a spring loaded case. The case is unmarked. The compass has a nice dial in excellent condition and marked CHARLES POTTER, TORONTO. The quality bar needle has a jeweled brass cap and finds North easily. The beveled glass crystal is in excellent condition. No chips or scratches. Has also a transit lock activated when the lid is closed. This is a rare and quality compass measuring approximately 60mm in diameter not including the ring. |
