Code BA11022228: French Hunter Sighting Clinometer Compass c. 1900

This is a nice and large French sighting compass dating from early 1900 and made as a special order to Andrew J. Lloyd Company in Boston (marked on the dial). It comes in a sturdy Nickel plated full hunter case in excellent condition. No dings or dents, only some loss to the plating on the front lid. The case is very sturdy and has a strong hinge. It is marked with serial number 11 on the side of the case. The dial is in excellent condition and marked MADE IN FRANCE. The hinged sighting vane is still present and in excellent condition. There is also a clinometer hand in excellent working order and can be used with lower dial graduation. The compass is covered with a glass crystal free of scratches and chips. It is in full working order and points North easily. The transit lock that prevents the needle from moving is also in working order. It measures 62mm in diameter. Would make a nice gift. |
