| This is a nice Elgin pocket watch made in 1893. It is in excellent running order and keeps excellent time. It has been recently cleaned, oiled and timed. SIZE and WEIGHT This is a 18 size 5 model. It measures around 57mm (2.2 inches) in diameter (excluding pendant crown and bow). It weighs about 178 g.CASE The open-face case is made of NICKEL SILVER alloy and still in excellent condition for its age with very minimal wear. Engraved with serial number 490340.It is also marked NICKEL SILVER, ILLINOIS WATCH CASE CO.. Both lids screw on and off as they should. MOVEMENT 18 Size movement in excellent and clean condition.Marked Elgin Natl. Watch Co., Elgin, Ill. with serial number 4954910. It has a SAFETY PINION, which will unscrew in case the main spring is broken. This protects the wheel train and bearings from the sudden released power of the mainspring. This is stem wind and set movement and has 11 jewels. It is running strong and keeps excellent time. DIAL The white porcelain dial is in nice condition with a couple of faint hairlines.It is marked Elgin Natl. Watch Co.. HANDS Blue steel hands are original and in excellent condition.CRYSTAL Thick glass crystal is in excellent condition.This is a nice pocket watch fully functional and has been professionally checked and timed.
