Code BA25031601: Rare German Antique Compass, c. 1930
This is nice and rare compass made in Germany around 1930. In comparison to other English and French German instrument makers, German instrument makers were not interested in manufacturing pocket compasses. This one is an exception, since it has a special locking mechanism never seen before. The pendant is used as a locking lever to lock the needle of the compass. This is very clever and minimalist. The compass has a needle with a jewelled brass cap and covered with a thick flat glass crystal. All in excellent condition. It is in full working order and finding North without any problem. It measures around 41 mm in diameter. |
