Code BA25012602: Unusual Victorian Compass by F. Barker & Son, c. 1890

This is a very unusual compass made by F. Barker & Son around 1890. It is inserted in a wood case and has a round brass lid. It has a nice Mother-of-Pearl, Singer's Patent dial. It is signed: F. Barker & Son, MAKERS, LONDON. The compass is in excellent working order and finds North without any problem. It is covered with a flat glass crystal in excellent condition. When the brass lid is placed on top of the compass, it activates the transit lock, which will lock the dial and prevents any image to the pivot or the bearing. It has a hook to lock the lid. The wood case is stored in a leather case still in excellent condition without damage. The wood case is also in excellent condition. The round compass insert has approximately 39mm in diameter. The wood case measures approximately 55mm x 55mm x 39mm.
