Code BA25011904: Victorian Nautical Compass with Mother-of-Pearl Singers Patent Dial, c. 1880
This is a nice hunter cased English compass made around 1880. It has a white brass case in excellent condition without dings or dents. The lid springs open when the button is pushed as it should. It has a strong hinge. Inside the lid inscribed with serial number: 566. The Mother-of-Pearl Singer's patent dial is a real beauty and has nautical design. It is in excellent condition without any damage and points North without any problem. It is covered with a glass crystal also in excellent condition. When the lid is closed the transit lock blocks the dial to avoid damaging the pivot when the compass is not used. It is automatically released when the lid is opened and the dial will move to find North. It measures around 52mm in diameter. |
