Code BA25011901: Georgian Long-Neck 14K Gold-Plated Pocket Compass c. 1820
This is a Georgian long-neck compass made in England around 1820. The compass case is in excellent condition without any dings or dents. It was tested with a Mizar M24 as 14K Gold-Plated.The dial is made of porcelain and is in excellent condition. It has a nice design typically used in the early 1800s. The compass has a quality jeweled brass cap with a bar needle. It is in excellent working order and finding North very easily. Under the long neck there is a small lever to activate the transit lock, lifting the brass disc located under pivot to avoid any contact with the pin. The compass is covered with a slightly convex glass crystal, which is in excellent condition without any scratches or chips. The diameter of the compass is approximately 37mm. This is a nice and rare Georgian Long-Neck compass in excellent condition. |
