Code BA17032601: Leather-Cased Compass with Singer's Patent Dial, c. 1865

This is a nice antique compass made around 1860. It has a painted mother-of-pearl dial in nice condition. It is clearly marked SINGER'S PATENT 15091. The mother-of-pearl is really nice and has ver nice colours when exposed to light. The case is gilt brass in excellent condition without dings or dents. It has a push-pull button under the loop to activate and release the transit lock. It has a glass crystal free of chips or scratches. The rotating dial swings freely and finds North easily. The compass in its original leather case still in excellent condition without damage. It has a strong hinge and has a hook to secure it when closed. The inner compass measures 34mm in diameter and the leather case has a diameter of 42mm.
