This compass is made in England around 1880. It comes in a brass round case with a brass cover. It is in excellent condition without dings or dents. It is engraved with retailers name: JOHN DAVIS & SON. LD., BALTIMORE, MD. The compass has a nice typically nautical dial and a bar needle with a brass cap. The transit lock is functional and comes into play when the lid is closed. The flat glass crystal the covers the dial is in excellent condition without any chips or scratches. It is very precise and finds North without any problem. It measures around 60mm in diameter. Would make a great gift.
