Code BA15091001: Victorian Compass in Wood Case - c. 1860

This is a mahogany cased pocket compass manufactured around 1860. It measures 79 mm x 79 mm x 22 mm. It is in excellent condition with normal signs of use. It has strong hinges, opens and closes as it should with a hook to keep the lid securely closed. It is in perfect working order and finds magnetic North easily and precisely. The needle has a brass cap and locks automatically when cover is closed. The compass is covered with a flat glass crystal in flawless condition. Very interesting and quality example of the mid 1800s.
