The Boreal Arrow

Code BA140701579: Laurence & Mayo London Engraved Compass, c. 1910

This is a Verners pattern military marching compass with leather case, c. 1910. Made by LAWRENCE & MAYO of London. The case is still in excellent condition without any damage and retains most of its original black colour. Has brass knob on the side for transit locking of dial. The dial is in excellent condition as can be seen in the pictures. The compass has also a magnifying prism for precise angles calculation that could be used in target engagement for instance. The compass is in full working order and finds North without any problem. It measures 5.4cm in diameter. The leather case is also in flawless condition. It has two pouches inside and there is a small piece of metal in one of these pouches. It certainly has a specific use, which is not clear to me. It has also handwritten inscriptions by the officer who owned it.
