The Boreal Arrow

Code BA140422521: Small Victorian Compass, c. 1880

This is a nice Victorian compass made around 1880. It is the smallest of its kind with only 24.6 mm in diameter excluding the pendant and bow. It comes in a brass case in excellent condition free of dents. The dial is nice and in excellent condition. The crystal glass is free of chips or scratches. The compass has a quality bar needle with a jewelled brass cap. It points North easily and precisely. It has also a transit lock that can be activated when the button under the loop is pushed. This will freeze the needle to avoid wear to the pivot when the compass is not used. When the button is pulled, the needle is released and will find North. Nice and rare compass especially in this size.
