The Boreal Arrow

Code BA130821472: Short & Mason Compass c. 1910

This is a unique military compass probably made by Short & Mason around 1910 for an officer in the British Army. It corresponds to the period when India was colonized by the United Kingdom. The case is made of brass and still has most of its original black painting. No dings or dents. Opens and closes as it should. The transit lock can be activated by moving a small lever on the side of the case. The glass crystal is in excellent condition without scratches or chips. The rotating dial has Indian Numerals. The compass is in perfect working order and points North precisely. The case measures 52mm in diameter. It comes in a leather case that is still in excellent condition.
