The Boreal Arrow 

Code BA13021130: English hunter Compass by F. Barker & Son, c. 1920

This is a nice English full hunter compass made around 1920 by Francis Barker & Son for Armstrong & Bro. of Manchester. The case is Nickel plated and is still in excellent condition. It has no dings or dents, only a couple of scratches and a spot with loss of the plating. It has a strong hinge. The dial has a nice design and is in excellent condition. It is signed TRADE MARK LONDON with a F. B & S. inside (the trade mark of F. Barker & Son). Around the pivot, it is marked ARMSTRONG & BRO., MANCHESTER. It is covered with a beveled glass also in excellent condition without any chips or scratches. When the lid is closed the transit lock lifts the needle to prevent wear to the pivot. When the lid is opened the needle is released and finds North easily and precisely. Excellent overall condition. It is a large model and measures 52mm in diameter.
