Rare WW1 officers pocket watch antique compass, engraved STANLEY, London, VI, 34597, 1918, and military arrow /|\. The case is Nickel and in good condition. It is free of dings or dents but has good amount of wear due to use in WW1. It is made by A. L. Dennison. It has serial number inside lid 140144 W.  Beveled glass crystal covers the distinctive Dennison dial card both in excellent condition. In full working order. Strong hinge. Size 4.7cm diameter. Very nice and hard to find compass.

The case maker was Aaron Lufkin Dennison of Birmingham UK, he manufactured watch cases from late 1874 at 24 Villa Road, Handsworth UK. As part of the war effort he diversified into compass cases. He was originally the Managing Director of the American Waltham Watch Company in the USA, where he made the very first watch with interchangeable parts and produced watches of Railway quality. He was known as the Founding Father of the American Watch Making Industry.
