Code BA12091536.23: J. A. SINCLAIR Reflex Liquid Filled Compass, circa 1915

This is a liquid filled compass made by J. A. Sinclair around 1915. Sinclair was a famous manufacturer of photographical instruments and was a retailer of scientific instruments including compasses. He died in 1940. This particular example is liquid filled and is called REFLEX COMPASS and has a round mirror inside the lid. It is marked SINCLAIR HAYMARKED LONDON. It has also a patent number and the inscription Patent Applied For. The case is sturdy and still in excellent condition without dings or dents. The glass crystals are present and in excellent condition without chips or scratches. The dial has also a nice design and is in excellent condition. The compass points North. The leather case is also in excellent condition. Very nice and rare example of a quality maker. Measure 51mm in diameter and is 2.5cm thick.
