The Boreal Arrow

Code BA12022647: Dollond c. 1900 English Compass

This a nice hunter compass made around 1900 by Dollond, London. Although it is not signed it is definitely made by Dollond by simply comparing its dial to that of  BA10060210 (see last picture). Even the pattern in central compass rose is the same. The case is Nickel plated and in excellent condition without dings or dents. It has a strong hinge and the lid springs open when the button is pushed. It has a beveled glass crystal in excellent condition without any chips or scratches. It has a very nice dial. It is in full working order and pointing North very precisely. When the lid is closed the transit lock prevents the needle from moving to avoid wear to the pivot. This is a rare example by a famous maker. It measures around 46mm in diameter.
