The Boreal Arrow

Code BA10111205: Lawrence & Mayo English Compass, c. 1900

This a nice English compass made around 1900 by Lawrence & Mayo, London (marked on dial). It is called the "THE DOG-STAR" (also marked on dial). The compass has a brass case in excellent condition without dings or dents. The dial and needle have exceptional beautiful design. The dial is covered with a thick sturdy glass crystal in excellent condition without scratches or chips. When the button is pulled the needle is released and will find North easily and smoothly. When the button is pushed, the transit lock will lift the needle and prevent it from moving when the compass is not used. Very nice and rare example by a quality maker. It comes with a nice quality leather attach. For more information about the maker company, please follow this link: http://www.rediff.com/money/2007/nov/03lm.htm. It measures 47mm in diameter.
