Code BA08063025: Early Antique 19thC Leather-Cased Pocket Compass

This an extremely rare antique early 19thC leather-cased pocket travelling compass made by SANDERS OPTICIAN from MONTREAL as marked on the dial. The compass and the case are virtually in mint condition. The wooden Moroccan leather covered case is cushioned and fabric lined to the inner lid. The brass compass has a paper dial in excellent condition. The pivot of the compass bar/pointer has a small ruby coloured stone inset within. The case has a small hook on one side to secure it and allow it to open and close. The hook is in perfect order. The hinge is also fully functional, and there is no leather-loss to the transit case. Excellent condition, pointer swings freely, and complete with undamaged bevelled glass crystal. Measures 51mm wide x 18mm depth. This is to be considered as extremely rare and has great value for the serious collector.
