The Boreal Arrow 

Code BA0059: Lennie of Edinburgh Engraved Compass, c.1890

 

This is an extremely rare antique compass made by Lennie of Edinburgh, Scotland. It can be dated from late 1800 to early 1900. An educated guess would be c.1890. The case is brass and in great condition with normal wear. Lid springs open to a right angle when button is pressed. It has a transit lock when lid is closed. Please note the screw on side, which is unusual. It is used to adjust the spring of the lid and the transit lock. It has a beautiful Singer dial in excellent condition. The crystal glass is in excellent condition. On the lid engraved Lennie Edinburgh. Inside the lid engraved the numbers 38 and 20. This is a fine example of a renown maker that is very hard to find. Size 4.5cm diameter.
